Each year a new theme is selected from student submissions. If your PTA would like to submit an entry for the 2021-2022 Reflections Theme Contest, download the Theme Search packet and submit one per student, click here for packet.
Deadline to submit an entry for the Reflections theme Contest to Iowa PTA is November 15, 2021.

Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2021-2022 theme: I Will Change the World By…
To participate, students contact your Local PTA, Local PTA leaders contact Iowa PTA for official program rules and deadlines. Below are helpful links to rules and helpful aids, along with a student entry form (to fill online or download and print). Students must participate through a Local PTA to be considered and may choose one or more of the available arts categories:
- Dance Choreography
- Literature
- Photography
- Special Artists
- Film Production
- Music Composition
- Visual Arts
– State Reflections entries will be accepted through Monday, January 31, 2022. All local PTA entries that qualify for state judging (4 per art category per grade division per PTA) should be entered online, or mailed to Liz Mink, Iowa PTA Reflections Chair, 1239 2nd Ave S, Clinton, IA 52732 to be received by Monday, January 31, 2022. (See special COVID alternatives if needed).
– All entries must be accompanied by a signed, completed entry form (unless the entry form is entered online). Detailed submission instructions are included in the Local Leaders Guide. Recommended entry deadline for Local PTA’s is at least 2 weeks prior to state deadline to allow time for local judging, local recognition, and shipping to state office, or advancing the online entries to state level judging.
– Local PTA Chairs will be notified of State judging results by March 1, 2022. State winners will be notified by the Iowa PTA Reflections Chair and invited to attend the State Awards Ceremony.
– Winning State artwork will be displayed and awards presented during the Iowa State Convention in the Spring of 2022. Unclaimed awards will be sent to local units to distribute to those students unable to attend the ceremony. Top award winning artwork may need to be sent to National PTA for displaying in Washington, DC in January, 2023 and at the National PTA 2023 convention.
