Suggest a Platform Change

Changes to the IPTA State and Federal Legislative Platform begin as proposed resolutions. Proposed resolutions along with supporting documentation are submitted to the Legislative Committee for review and consideration. If accepted, the proposed resolution is sent to the general Iowa PTA membership to be voted on at the next Convention. After approval by the general membership, resolutions become part of the Iowa PTA Legislative Program.

To submit a resolution for consideration by the Iowa PTA Legislative Committee, select one of the following.

– Proposed Resolution Instructions
– Proposed Resolution Form

PTA resolutions and position statements are official documents outlining the opinion, will, or intent of the association to address national problems, situations, or concerns that affect children and youth and require national action to seek resolution on the issue.

The documents serve an important purpose in formalizing and focusing the positions of the organization on various important and relevant issues.

The below links include instructions and information on the criteria for establishing a resolution in accordance with National PTA procedure. All proposed resolutions must be received at resolutions@pta.org no later than 11:59 PM EST on Nov. 15.
