Membership is important to any organization and especially to volunteer organizations. Membership gives the group a larger voice and provides them with the resources to do more.
Membership is especially important to the PTA. It not only gives the organization a stronger voice with lawmakers, it gives members an opportunity to play a larger role in shaping the future of our children. PTA membership helps unite parents, teachers, businesses, and the community for the common good of ALL children. PTA involvement in the lives of children insures a better future for all.
PTA memberships are renewable each year. All membership cards expire June 30 and new cards are distributed to local PTA units each summer. PTA memberships can be purchased anytime during the year.
The amount paid for membership in a local PTA unit is specified in that unit's bylaws. A portion of each member's dues goes to the Iowa and National PTA to provide services and resources at the state and national level.
With more than 26,000 local PTA units throughout the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Dept. of Defense Dependent Schools in Europe and Asia; it is easy to find a local unit in your area.
